Crawling Promises
By: E. Loera
The message behind my art piece is the feeling of losing oneself, to have pieces of one feel like distant memories. Someone who goes through so much tends to lose pieces of themselves as they grow and mature. Negative emotions emerge from the feeling of emptiness that consumes one, in which it leads to making false promises to oneself, promises that cannot be made and only give a sense of hope to keep moving forward in life. Yet, there's always hope once the light is seen. I am inspired by hyperrealism and surreal art. I used white charcoal pencil, black charcoal pencils and sticks, Prismacolor color pencils, and Fabel Castell Pastel pencils. I used these medias because of their smooth applications and range of texture available. This artwork represents me and my individual point of view because it represents my own experiences and emotions. I want to form my emotions into creativity for others to see and realize they aren't alone while going through a similar situation and that there would always be a chance of change. Insects are a big part of my imagination and I tend to use animals/insects for symbolism in my pieces.
