Despair In Blue
By: Seren S.
This is schizophrenia. I was inspired by images I had seen of people surrounded by shadowy figures. Also by how the brain can be so busy and loud. The woman is in despair and feels like they are being held captive. I thought of the delusions being hands, taking hold of the mind. The fire bursts are darkness and distortion of the mind. The delusions are deafening. The woman closes her eyes and cries because she cannot escape. I want the viewer to understand how scared and hopeless the woman feels. I chose schizophrenia because I want people to understand how hard it is to live with and how scary it is not knowing what’s real and what’s fantasy. My picture is done in markers and acrylic markers. The contrast of bright and dark colors show intensity and confusion. I chose a unique style because schizophrenia is unique and complicated.
