Paved Paradise
By: Lily T.
Behind an abandoned building in downtown San Antonio, a colorful mural towers over a small parking lot. It had just rained, puddles filling up in the pavement's cracks. I knelt down, snapped a photo of the bright reflection, and thought nothing of it. When I got home and browsed through my photos from that day, this one stuck out. The dull greys of the dingy parking lot contrasted beautifully with the vibrance of Texas. It wasn’t until much later that I realized how poetic the photo was. Even in industrial, urban cities filled with concrete and potholes, human creativity never dies. Our artistry will always be here, even in the darkest of times. A small piece of bright hope — A 'Paved Paradise'.
