Shower Thoughts

When depression has somebody feeling at their lowest point, even the simplest of tasks may feel insurmountable. When you are depressed some tasks feel like they require deep strength from within that you think you don't have.
For example, when you finally gather the energy to shower, let the water run down your face and body, you just want to stay wrapped in that warmth, however a wave of emotion can also hit you suddenly and at the same make you feel like you are back at the bottom of a dark hole. It can become an endless cycle. Many people don't realize how much strength it takes to take care of yourself when you have major depression and that it is such a big accomplishment if that's the only thing you did for the day.
Self-care during this hardship is so important to be able to start digging yourself out of such a dark place. Believing in yourself and taking small steps while looking at these simple tasks as big accomplishments can help your confidence to better care for yourself. You are important, loved and you matter so much. Everyone deserves to feel and look their best no matter where you might be in your mental health journey.
