The Reality of The Situation

The struggle of mental health in the schooling system is real. Kids are taught from a young age through media and influencers to cover up the pain they are feeling because it’s “problematic” or “not socially acceptable.” High schoolers are very impressionable and are taught to cover themselves because they don’t view themselves as having the perfect lifestyle. This piece is made to make the viewer think about how young teenagers growing into adulthood must think about the world and that internalization onto themselves. This piece was made with colored pencil, gouache, gel pen, and marker.
