Weeping Colors
By: D.R.
The inspiration for my artwork was the idea of contrast. The mind often contrasts how a person displays themselves, especially among people who are mentally ill. I wanted to display this contrast, and a visual experience of how it feels to slowly loose empathy in exchange for apathy. Like life has cracked you open and left you to leak out. I used graphite, charcoal dust, and oil pastel, because while charcoal and graphite are my strong suits, oil pastel isn’t. Not only did this add to my theme, it also had an interesting difference of texture. Overall everything done in this peace was to create a bigger, yet subtle, picture.
