Dear Bipolar Mom,

By: Alyssa M.

I wrote about my mom. She is bipolar, and sometimes that can affect my mental state. So I wanted to talk about it in hopes that the reader could relate or at least feel the struggle.

Honorable Mention · Middle School Writing (2023)

Your thoughts are bipolar…

…It makes me need to keep my composure.

I need to take a break…

…cause I’m mentally drained.

…your words hurt.

One second you’re laughing along with me…

…the next, anger is all I see.

But you don’t have to hide…

…don’t leave those feelings bottled up inside.

…talk to me.

Let me see what you see…

…let me see your view.

,,,so I know what’s true.

Your feelings change at the flip of a switch…

…I don’t know which is which.

Step back…

…Take a deep breath.

…Collect your thoughts.

…Collect your feelings.

…Take some time time for yourself.

Just know…

…I will always be there to help.

…I will always love you.
